Religious Heritage of Cyprus website and interactive map
The first part of a great project and collaboration has been officially launched and we are happy to see it live and share it with you:
I have been involved in the website concept and design and this project could have not been possible without the hard work of a great developer, Panayiotis Savva, the extensive research by Dr Thorsten Kruse, and funding support by the partners involved. So far two of the districts have been covered: Larnaca and Kyrenia, and the rest will be added in the near future. The website is responsive and can be accessed by computer or mobile devices.
The website is dedicated to the religious heritage of Nicosia and its suburbs, more specifically the abandoned or converted religious sites in the divided capital of Cyprus. In addition to Christian and Muslim places of worship, the publication and online site also includes the cemeteries of the two faith communities, as well as other faith-related places, such as places for votive offerings. The project on Nicosia is part of a larger ongoing endeavour by the Office of RTCYPP to create an interactive website for all religious sites in Cyprus, launched on 2nd August 2021.
